Our insulation sets are provided with a neoprene faced phenolic gasket, this high performance composite sealing/insulating material is designed to meet specific needs, primarily in the Oil and Gas distribution industries. It combines the sealing properties of Neoprene with the strength and insulation properties of a fine weave SRBF laminate. Conventional materials can cause problems due to either with being too soft to withstand the compressive forces of the mating surfaces or too hard to form a satisfactory seal. The thickness of the sealing rubber face is kept to a minimum (typically 0.4mm). This combined with the high compressive strength of the core eliminate the compression effects normally associated with softer materials. This makes the product capable of withstanding compressive loads in excess of 30,000 psi. The product also acts as electrical insulation between the mating surfaces reducing electrolytic effects, which can lead to corrosion.

Our insulation sets use Mylar sleeve. Mylar is used to insulate or isolate bolts from dissimilar metal flanges to avoid galvanic corrosion. Mylar has excellent dielectric strength and low water absorption. Mylar Sleeves are designed to fit easily over the flange bolts, and may be used with standard size bolts and bolt holes even with some misalignment. Insulating sleeves have a standard wall thickness and are generally used with separate phenolic insulating washers. Mylar is the most recognised and industry approved sleeve and bolt insulating material. Sealing Products recommends Mylar Sleeve as it is stronger than Phenolic and less prone to cracking when being torqued or becoming broken during the installation process. It is available in both Metric and Imperial sizes. The standard length is 1000mm and can be supplied in full lengths or we cut to suit your bolt length.

Our insulation sets are supplied with Phenolic Insulating Washers, this is a phenolic resin bonded plastic with a medium weave fabric reinforcement. It has a good combination of electrical and mechanical strength and is the most commonly used of all the industrial laminated plastics.
